This 1/2" Midi Skew Chisel is a scaled-down version of Robert Sorby's (810H) Standard 1/2" Skew Chisel, making it ideal for smaller projects. This tool has a rectangular cross-section, giving it more weight and making it superb for spindle work, such as newel posts and table legs. Recently modified by ‘rolling’ the edges slightly to help turners avoid catching an edge and to allow greater maneuverability. Made from high-speed steel and then properly hardened and tempered. They will maintain a sharpened edge approximately six times longer than carbon steel and resist "bluing" or softening from overheating during grinding or heavy turning. The handle is made of hard white ash with a brass ferrule.
